A SMARTER PROJECT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
While IoT devices, systems, and solutions may be complex technologies, SBT has developed a proven project assessment, development, and deployment process that has been successful for large and small clients. We're talking from a single-floor office building renovation to retrofitting a sports complex to winning an award for helping the City of Santa Ana convert some of their buildings into SMART spaces. Here's how the process goes…
STEP 1: DISCOVERY
The first step is to determine your specific pain points:

ISSUE IDENTIFICATION
We first start with gaining a full understanding of your particular challenges by uncovering specific pain points.
NEEDS ASSESSMENT
Using these pain points as a base, we will further catalog what identifiable objectives you want to achieve.
FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS
Lastly, our team will compile a full feasibility analysis of what technology solutions best fit your individual needs.
STEP 2: SYSTEM AUDIT
The next step is to take what we learned from our feasibility analysis and perform a comprehensive systems audit. This full systems audit uncovers the most effective means of solving your unique challenges while shedding light on areas where we can leverage IoT-based technologies to provide a comprehensive end-to-end solution.
FACILITY ANALYSIS
All projects start with a general walk-through of the facility to identify your unique needs and space requirements.
SITE ASSESSMENT
Following the general facility analysis our team completes a comprehensive site audit, cataloging all existing system data.
NEEDS EVALUATION
Lastly, we will compile additional notes based on the walkthrough and audit to use when customizing your solution.
STEP 3: SOLUTION ENGINEERING
With the data from the feasibility analysis and systems audit, SBT solution engineers get to work designing a customized IoT-based solution that addresses your specific challenges, needs, and requirements.

As the digital backbone of your IoT-based infrastructure, we start with the industry’s leading LED lighting technologies to form the foundation of your project.
SMARTER CONTROLS
From there, we pull on our IoT-Controls Ecosystem Partners to identify the most appropriate lighting, building, and operational control devices for your specific needs.
SMARTER SENSORS
Lastly, we go one step further to identify additional opportunities to deploy smarter IoT sensors to solve other challenges above and beyond operational efficiencies.
STEP 4: PROJECT FUNDING
With the project design and engineering completed, we'll work with you to explore and secure the necessary resources required to bring your project to fruition.
SSaaS
SMART Space as a Service is an opportunity SBT developed to help you get your project off of the ground with ZERO money out of pocket.
ON-BILL FINANCING
On-Bill financing and on-bill repayment programs provide two options for property owners to pay for investment in clean energy upgrades through their utility.
PACE FINANCING
PACE programs allow a property owner to finance the up-front cost of energy or other eligible improvements on a property and then pay the costs back over time through a voluntary assessment.
STEP 5: PRODUCTION
Once project funding is completed, we will bring all of the necessary fixtures, advanced controls, sensors, and other IoT devices into one of our manufacturing and production facilities to begin integrating all of the components.
INTEGRATION
Based on the project requirements, we start integrating your IoT-enabled devices and complete any tooling or fabrication needed to make sure everything fits together so it’s aesthetically pleasing.
TESTING
Once all of the components have been integrated and fabrication is complete, every lighting-based device is powered up to make sure everything is working properly before being packaged for shipment.
LOGISTICS
Once your completed order is packaged for shipping, we work with your electrician, GC, or installer to coordinate delivery. When your IoT-embedded material arrives on-site, it’s ready for installation right out of the box!
STEP 6: PROVISIONING
As all devices and materials have been installed, commissioning completed in tandem of the construction process; we start the remote provisioning process of your newly fashioned SMART space as it is installed to speed the entire process up significantly. This can be handled in a few different ways.
ON-SITE
We can come out to your site, meet with you and start the process of setting up the desired zones in your new SMART space.
REMOTE
Deploying IoT technologies affords us the ability to commission your facility remotely, helping to add a little extra cost savings on your project.
BLENDED
This provides the best of both worlds, On-site and Remote, to provide you with the exact amount of service and support to ensure your confident in your SMART space.
