Philips EasySense Sensors
The next update I wanted to talk about today was the launch of the Philips EasySense SNS300 and SNS200.
Per our Signify partners, we learned that the Philips EasySense devices are Zigbee devices that are used to create wireless systems for indoor connected lighting. Deemed as a simple solution to actively manage and control energy usage, the EasySense allows for remote adjustment of light settings depending on the specific needs of a given space. With the added Zigbee functionality, EasySense can now be an integral part of networks that also utilize the Zigbee standard.
Let's take a more in-depth look at these devices themselves.
Philips EasySense SNS300 & SNS200 Overview
The Philips EasySense fixture-mount sensor is the ideal solution for per-fixture control of new light fixtures. It combines occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting and task tuning in a single, compact package. EasySense operates with the Philips Advance Xitanium SR LED driver and only requires a simple two-wire connection between sensor and driver, thus eliminating the need for multiple components and auxiliary devices.
Designed for typical indoor environments, both the SNS300 & SNS200 are ideal for open/private offices, conference rooms, classrooms, and corridors. The optimized mounting height is 8ft-10ft.
NFC is the set of protocols that enables electronic devices to establish radio communication with each other by touching the devices together or bringing them into proximity to a distance of typically 0.4"/1cm or less. This functionality makes the SNS300 compatible with the Philips Field Apps (Easysense NFC).
The RF antenna allows communication via RF technology.
Infrared (IR) receiver
The infrared receiver serves as a communication portal for the commissioning tools. Network settings for an individual sensor can be reset with the Philips Field Apps (Easysense IR).
Sensors View Shield
The sensor comes with an occupancy view shield that can be used to block the movement detection by the sensor in a particular area. The guard comes inverted (see above). This view shield can be pulled out, flipped and inserted back in the sensor and then rotated, so the correct area is shielded off from the detection area. If you don’t need such a shield in the application, it can be easily pulled from the sensor or left inverted.
SNS200 vs. SNS300
While the hardware between the SNS200 and SNS300 is virtually the same, the main difference can be found in their respective applications.
Philips EasySense SNS200
The Philips EasySense SNS200 is used for the advanced grouping of sensors in a given location (i.e., an office) to enable wireless controllability. Up to 40 sensors can be grouped to a switch. In addition to easily adding user control to a space, the grouping feature facilities auto-off/manual-on and auto-off/partial-on use cases.
Philips EasySense SNS300
The Philips EasySense SNS300, on the other hand, is more applicable to building a more comprehensive network. Capable of providing the same control features as the SNS200, the SNS300 can provide additional fixture-specific information. Taking advantage of a centralized control system network the SNS300 also provides energy monitoring data, control scheduling, and load shedding capabilities.
Advance FlexTune System Launches
Another notable launch from the Signify team was their Advance FlexTune System. According to our partners at Signify, the Advance FlexTune System is a cutting-edge, tunable white solution that’s easy to set up and is an affordable solution as compared to other white tuning solutions on the market. Here’s how the system breaks down:
- 2,700K to 6,000K
- 5.5in, 11in, 22in, 23.7in
- Connectors at both ends to enable daisy chaining
- High ESD rating (>8kV) for easy handling
- 1% minimum dim level
